Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension. Forty days ago we celebrated the resurrection and in ten days we will see Easter come to an end with the celebration of Pentecost Sunday. These next ten days are filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit in our parish.

            in today's gospel passage from St. Matthew we encounter Jesus' final goodbye to His disciples. (Mt 28: 16-20) As He is ready to ascend to His Father in Heaven, Jesus leaves them with instructions to go out into the world and baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. He promises them that He will be them always in whatever trials they face.

           God is with us over these next ten days in the presence of the Holy Spirit. God always keeps His promises and He will never leave us. Trust in Him and He will send us the Holy Spirit.
